About the bank
Commercial Bank “COMERTBANK” Joint-Stock Company is one of the first commercial banks which received a banking license, permitting the activity of the bank on the territory of the Republic of Moldova . 17 years is a considerable age for the bank market of the Republic of Moldova . We have proved that it is possible to be successful and justify hopes of both customers and stockholders in spite of serious competition.
Commercial Bank “COMERTBANK” Joint-Stock Company was founded on the 14th of November, 1990, according to the decision of the Constituent Assembly of representatives of enterprises and organizations of state commerce called “Moldtorgbank”.
On the 6th of September, 1991, on the basis of the decision of the General Meeting of the Founders, “Moldtorgbank” received a new name, Commercial Bank “COMERTBANK”, a limited liability company, and was listed in the general register of the National Bank of Moldova as number 2.
On the 26th of June, 1996, the Bank was reorganized into Commercial Bank “COMERTBANK”, which represented a closed Joint-Stock Company (JSC) . Initially 15 organizations acted as the founders of the Bank, the largest of them were the Ministry of Trade of MSSR, trading associations of the towns of the republic, republican wholesale depots, etc.
In accordance with the requirements of the National Bank of Moldova, Commercial Bank “COMERTBANK” Joint-Stock Company has been constantly increasing its authorized capital stock. Besides, the list of the founders of the bank has also been modified.
Nowadays 8 juridical and 7 physical persons act as the stockholders of the Bank.
Commercial Bank “COMERTBANK” Joint-Stock Company carries out its financial activity on the basis of the Statute of the Bank and the license of “B”-type issued by the National Bank of Moldova.
According to the license it holds, Commercial Bank “COMERTBANK” Joint-Stock Company renders a large number of banking and financial services in the republic and abroad.
Representatives of various spheres of business, such as investment funds, industrial, pharmaceutical, and commercial enterprises, are among our customers.
Our Bank actively increases its collaboration with foreign partners. The correspondent relationships with foreign banks allows to carry out international transactions and other operations for our customers.
During the 17 years of its activity, Commercial Bank “COMERTBANK” Joint-Stock Company has, in fact, turned into a universal bank rendering banking services acknowledged in the world practice to its customers.
Due to the changes in the list of stockholders and the considered and well-balanced policy of the administrators of the Bank, we have managed to achieve significant success. Thus, since 2000 the Cumulative Normative Capital of the Bank, which was equal to 68.00 million lei, increased, and in the end of 2007 it amounted to 155.54 million lei, thus, the constantly augmenting demands of the NBM regarding the sufficiency of capital were satisfied.

The level we have achieved implies higher demands and new requirements. Improvement of the technical equipment of the Bank and development of new information technologies will help to achieve these aims, which will allow to enlarge the range of services we render and carry out the performance of customer services on a level with new high-quality standards.
We try to find the correlation of profitability and risks which could be optimal for the current economic and social situation in RM.
